Sending a free-form message is not going through – EC 7010 NO_SESSION

The Case

You are trying to send a free-form message, but you are receiving the 7010 EC_NO_SESSION error code, which means that the session has not started yet or it has already expired.

This is happening in 2 cases:

  1. You previously haven’t received any WhatsApp Mobile Originated (MO) incoming messages
  2. You have received a WhatsApp Mobile Originated incoming message but you are trying to send a free-form message after a 72-hour window

Steps To Take

Step 1: Make sure you have a received Mobile Originated message from the customer in your communication thread

A Mobile Originated message means that the customer has reached out to you and you are free to reply back.

Step 2: Check the time stamp when the last MO message was sent or received

There is a 24-hour limit to the Standard Customer Support Window being open for free-form messages. If this time window has expired, you are no longer able to send free-form messages, but you can still send template messages.
