Why are my SMS messages not being delivered?

There are a couple of possible solutions, depending if you are in the free trial or if you have added funds to your account.

Free trial

• Number not verified
During the free trial, free messages can only be sent to verified numbers. Please make sure that you are sending messages to a verified number. When you are verifying a number, you will receive a 4-digit code over SMS. To verify a number, enter that code into Infobip portal. Learn more about number verification.

• Delivery error
SMS delivery can fail because of a number of errors. Go to Logs to see how your messages are performing. If message delivery fails, you will see an error code that can help you understand what went wrong. Learn more about error codes and troubleshooting options under Response status and error codes.

Paying account

• Insufficient funds
SMS is charged per message. Please ensure you have enough funds to send messages. If needed, add funds to your account to avoid delivery issues.

• Incorrect number for the destination country
Please check if the number you bought supports sending messages to that country, as each number only covers one destination country. In other words, if you want to send SMS messages to 5 countries, you will need to buy 5 numbers.

• Delivery error
In case you haven’t already, create a detailed traffic report in Reports. You can then export your report in an Excel file and see all the details and statuses for delivered or undelivered messages. Visit the Response status and error codes page to learn more about error codes and troubleshooting. If you can’t seem to resolve your issue, contact us at [email protected].

• Sending to a regulated country
While Infobip supports sending SMS messages globally, each country has its own individual regulations and guidelines that may apply. You may have been able to send messages to regulated countries in free trial, but you are not able to send live traffic to these countries. If you’ve checked the delivery errors and you think that you might be sending to a regulated country, contact us at [email protected] for assistance.
